A MOMENT OF JUSTICE, A LIFETIME OF VENGEANCE
Thirty years ago, on a moonlit night in the great state of Alabama, fifteen teenagers dance and celebrate their victorious moment, righting a wrong for the Old South. It’s a moment that may change the lives of not only the fifteen teenagers, but many others.
Thirty years later, someone is seeking revenge for the death of a loved one. Presidential hopeful, Senator Bobby Cowens of Alabama, is found dead in an elegant hotel in the nation’s capital, his throat slit and a photograph attached to his right ear with a pocketknife. It’s a photograph of fifteen teenagers and a lynched Black man in the background. Eight of the faces are x’ed out in black ink and Senator Cowens’ face is x’ed out in his own blood, possibly the ninth victim to die at the hands of the Moonlight Killer.
John A. Wooden’s novel, “A Moment of Justice, A Lifetime of Vengeance,” introduces us to Kenny “KC” Carson, the FBI’s best crime fighter. Although known for his ability to solve the most difficult cases, KC may be in over his head as he must deal with the recent loss of his sister, ghosts of past tragedies and solve a case that smells of past discriminations and stereotypes. In a race with time, KC and his team are tasked to solve a troubling Bureau’s most difficult and disturbing case in years—a case that involves his old college nemesis, an old girlfriend, and his mentor, the Deputy Director of the FBI, Elliot Lucas. KC must answer the questions, “Is the senator’s death connected to the string of murders and are the murders a case of revenge? Can he save and protect those who would have killed him in a different day and time?”
In possibly his last case with the FBI, KC must set aside personal feelings and loyalties, and face the horrific past of discrimination and hatred, and silence voices of yesterday. As the Bureau’s best agent and his team attempt to connect the x’ed out faces in the photograph to the senator’s death, they must recreate the events of thirty years ago and delve into the deep recesses of the criminal mind. In a nonstop thriller that merges the past and present, KC and his cohorts will travel from D.C. to Alabama to the Bay Area to solve the unsolvable and put another case to rest.
Prepare yourself for a suspenseful and intriguing page-turner as John Wooden explores the minds of men in his thought-provoking novel of mystery and revenge.

AN EYE FOR A DEADLY EYE
In the annals of FBI history are the cases that no one speaks or utters a word about. The story of agents being sought out and brutally killed in their homes, on a mission or simply, eating in a restaurant. It was two cases in different decades, united as one, that tested the intestinal fortitude, determination and moral fiber of the nation’s lead investigative bureau.
In 1982, 21 former and active agents were killed on stakeouts, in cars, at stores, jogging and yes, at home. The Bureau committed unlimited resources and still was unsuccessful in finding viable suspects. The crimes ceased just as fast as they started. In 1993, the crimes started back with the murder of the former Chief of the Criminal Investigation Division, followed by the murders of two teams on stakeouts in Berkeley, California and Richmond, Virginia. This time, the Bureau was able to get a lead on possible suspects. A group called Just Cause, a collaboration of hate groups bonded together for a common cause: to wreak havoc on the FBI. The original groups consisted of the Pure Angels, a Neo-Nazi group, the Black Mavericks, the Deadly Skinheads, and the Red Death of Mercy, an Asian group. Like the 1982 case, the 1993 crime spree ceased just as fast as they started.
John A. Wooden’s novel, An Eye for a Deadly Eye, is the second installment in his Kenny “KC” Carson mystery/suspense series.
When former special agent, Scott Rooker, is gunned down in cold-blood in a Chicago pool hall and three active agents are also killed while on a stakeout in Houston, including veteran agent, Bonner McGill, Deputy Director Elliot Lucas is convinced Just Cause has returned. These killings also coincide with the murder of the First Bank of South Carolina’s president, Doris Northwood, followed by the robbery of the same bank. When bank employees and customers are questioned about the robbery/murder, the only description they would give was the robbers wore masks resembling past celebrities and politicians.
After his last case, former Bureau agent, Kenny Carson, walked away, put his gun down for good and vowed never to return to fighting crime. But can he pass up the only reason he became an agent and get revenge on the group that killed his brother? In a case where undesirable alliances are formed, secrets are revealed and lines of good and evil are crossed, KC will reluctantly don his gun again and seek revenge. He will encounter a Bureau like he has never seen before and face the toughest challenges he has ever faced as an agent.
This case will match the wits of Deputy Director Lucas and the “Boss,” the leader of Just Cause. Can Director Lucas accomplish what others in the past weren’t able to do: catch killers who have evaded capture for two decades? Can the “Boss” finally do what he set out to do over twenty years ago: destroy the nation’s lead investigative agency?
Prepare yourself for a fast moving adventure and intense battle of wills as John A. Wooden spins a mind-blowing suspense thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
